- Court says Nnamdi Kanu used digital devices to incite violence in the South-East.
- Justice Omotosho orders total ban on phones, computers, and digital tools for the IPOB leader.
- Kanu to remain in protective custody under strict monitoring by the NSA.
- The Federal Government granted forfeiture of transmitter linked to Camserva activities.
Justice James Omotosho has ruled that IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu must not have access to digital devices, including phones and computers, while serving his life sentence, insisting the court ruling is necessary to prevent a repeat of past broadcasts that allegedly fuelled violence across the South-East.
Justice Omotosho said Kanu’s previous use of phones and computers played a major role in spreading messages that escalated tensions in the region. He described the IPOB leader as someone whose activities resulted in bloodshed and widespread destabilisation.

According to him, the evidence showed that Kanu repeatedly used digital platforms to send out instructions that triggered attacks. The judge agreed with the prosecution that allowing him access to any unmonitored device would undermine security, noting that such use must only happen under strict supervision by the Office of the National Security Adviser.
He added that because of the scale of violence linked to his actions and the toll on residents of the South-East, Kanu should remain in protective custody. The court directed authorities to keep him in any secure custodial centre considered suitable.
The court also ordered the forfeiture of the transmitter associated with Camserva, which prosecutors said played a role in the dissemination of inciting messages.
