Tinubu Promises to Expose the Root of Insecurity in Nigeria

As concerns over insecurity in Nigeria continue to dominate national conversation, President Bola Tinubu has charged the newly commissioned police officers to be ready to defend the country and demonstrate courage when duty calls.

Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, gave the message during the Passing-Out-Parade of Regular Course 7 at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano on Saturday.

Addressing the 1,187 newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Police, the President reiterated his administration’s promise to support security agencies with modern intelligence tools, logistics and improved welfare.

He emphasized that the academy has a vital role in building a new, strong and human-driven police force capable of combating insecurity and enforcing law and order.

“You are not just enforcers of the law, you are guardians of our collective security and well-being,” Tinubu said. “A nation puts its trust in you, and we expect you to serve selflessly and be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if the need arises.” He added

Tinubu stressed that the government will continue to support the Police Academy with the resources required to produce highly trained and well-disciplined officers who respect human rights and dignity.

“We are committed to ensuring that our police officers are highly educated, well-trained and equipped to manage internal security with respect for human rights,” he noted.

The Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick Adedeji Atayero, revealed that the officers were awarded Bachelor’s Degrees after meeting the academic and ethical requirements of the institution.

The Passing-Out-Parade was attended by top government officials, service chiefs, heads of security formations and dignitaries including the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
