The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Amadin Williams, 43, for the alleged killing of his longtime friend, Eghosa Osas, during a housewarming celebration in Oben Community.
Police spokesperson Eno Ikoedem disclosed that the incident occurred while friends and family had gathered to celebrate Christmas. The victim had recently returned from abroad with his family for the festivities.

According to police sources, Eghosa reportedly stepped away from the gathering to relieve himself when the suspect allegedly followed him and attacked him with a machete, inflicting a fatal cut to his neck.

“The report of the murder is true. The suspect, believed to be the victim’s childhood friend, is currently in custody,” Ikoedem said.
She added that the case was reported by the victim’s elder brother and that investigations are ongoing.
“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded,” she stated.
Residents of Oben Community were left in shock by the incident, describing it as a tragic end to what was meant to be a joyful reunion.
