In Ancient Sacred Urhobo Spirituality (Ubiudu VeWe Ologbo Obeahbi), I set out to address these problems directly by presenting Urhobo spiritual knowledge from within its own cosmological frame.
This book was written to challenge common misconceptions surrounding African spiritual practice in Nigeria, particularly those sustained by artificial gatekeeping. For generations, access to authentic knowledge has often been restricted, distorted, or reduced to surface explanations. I aim to reopen that space and allow the tradition to speak for itself.
At the center of the book is the soul of Urhobo spirituality, known as Obeah or Obeahbi Ologbo, described in Urhobo thought as the heart of the black cat. This is not symbolism for mystery alone. It refers to the deepest layer of Urhobo spiritual consciousness, the core from which spiritual authority, perception, and power emerge. It is the spiritual essence of the people.

The work explores hidden history and lesser-known practices of the Urhobo of the Niger Delta, with particular focus on how spirituality functioned as a living system rather than a belief structure. These practices shaped health, social balance, prosperity, conflict resolution, and personal alignment. They were practical, disciplined, and deeply integrated into daily life.
A central contribution of the book is its examination of the origins of Olokun and Ogun from an Urhobo cosmological perspective. This is the first published work in Urhobo history to approach these deities from this angle. The intention is not to close the subject, but to open it. Further research and interpretation are welcome, as living traditions grow through careful study and honest dialogue.
This book is written especially for people of African descent across the world who wish to understand how their ancestors practiced spirituality, and how that wisdom can still be applied today. The goal is balance, health, happiness, prosperity, peace, and tranquility in modern life, grounded in ancestral knowledge rather than abstraction.
