American streamer IShowSpeed has finally addressed the backlash trailing his Nigeria visit, following accusations from some Nigerian content creators who claimed he ignored them during his African tour. The popular YouTuber, currently on his Speed Does Africa project, said the criticism misunderstands the real aim of his trip across the continent.
The controversy began after several Nigerian influencers complained online that IShowSpeed was selective with meet-ups during his stay in the country. TikToker Peller was among those who openly expressed frustration after allegedly failing to meet the streamer despite multiple attempts.

Reacting to the claims, IShowSpeed dismissed the narrative that he intentionally avoided creators. In a statement seen by Legit.ng, the American streamer explained that his Africa tour was never meant to be a celebrity or influencer collaboration tour.
“This trip is about showing the real Africa,” Speed said.
“It’s about the kids drumming by the roadside, the dancers on the street corners, the markets, and the people who may never get a chance to be seen.”
He stressed that many influencers already enjoy visibility and strong online platforms, while the people he highlights during the tour often have none.
According to him, every movement on the Speed Does Africa tour is carefully planned by his team. Locations, cultural stops, and security arrangements are all fixed ahead of time, leaving no room for unplanned meetings.
“My schedule is tight. Every stop is planned. There’s no space for sudden meet-ups or last-minute collaborations,” he added.
Speed urged fans and critics alike to understand that the tour’s mission is cultural storytelling, not social media access.
