Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, have rescued two kidnapped victims in Plateau State and arrested a suspected gun runner in Kaduna State during separate operations.
In a statement issued by the task force’s Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the victims were freed during an aggressive patrol around Kukawa in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau.

According to the statement, troops engaged the kidnappers while they were moving the victims to a hideout.
The criminals reportedly fled into nearby bushes after abandoning the captives.
Preliminary findings showed the victims were abducted at gunpoint on February 22, 2026, from Mansur village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The rescued individuals have since been debriefed, while efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families and track down the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation, troops deployed in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna intercepted a suspected gun runner during a stop-and-search exercise at Kurmin Goro village.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Vincent Ibrahim, was allegedly transporting five fabricated rifles to Kafanchan when he was apprehended.
He is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of the task force, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, commended the troops for their swift response and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property within the joint operations area.
