The congress, which took place at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, was supervised by Hon. Kabiru Ajana, Chairman of the National State Congress Committee for Edo State. Delegates from the 192 wards across the state reaffirmed the executives through a voice vote in what observers described as a peaceful and orderly process.
Jarret Tenebe was re-elected as State Chairman alongside other executive members, securing a second term without opposition.
Shortly after the affirmation, Tenebe, speaking on behalf of the State Executive Committee, announced the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, citing what he described as strong leadership and performance.
The party leadership also endorsed Adams Oshiomhole, former Edo State governor and senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, for a return to the Senate. According to Tenebe, Oshiomhole has provided quality representation.
Tenebe described the unanimous affirmation as a renewed mandate to serve.
“This unanimous voice affirmation is a call to duty, and we are ready to discharge our responsibility and ensure the party continues to put Edo people first, while supporting the governor to sustain his developmental strides in the state,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence and reflected on his previous role as Deputy State Chairman during what he called a turbulent period in the party’s history in Edo State.
“Throughout that challenging phase, the unwavering support and commitment of our party faithful enabled us to weather the storm and keep the party united and focused,” Tenebe stated.
The chairman also acknowledged that in the course of carrying out his duties, some individuals may have felt offended.
“Where my actions may have offended anyone while carrying out my duties in strengthening the democratic foundations of our party, I sincerely offer my apologies. Every decision taken was made in good faith and in the overall interest of the APC,” he added.
The Edo APC leadership pledged to remain united and focused as it prepares for future political contests in the state and at the national level.
