Delta 2023: Former Commissioner of Finance, Kenneth Okpara Joins Race | Daily Report Nigeria

Kenneth Okpara, a former Commissioner of Finance in Delta state, has joined the race for the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in 2023.

The erstwhile commissioner declared his intentions to join the race in statement on Wednesday, in Asaba, the Delta state capital.

Okpara promised to transform affairs of the state to a better level if elected into power.

“I will ensure security, health and collaborative human development; economic prosperity, job creation, educational advancement and youth empowerment; new transformative and robust agricultural drive and resource-based industrialisation; sustained infrastructural and socio-economic development; exemplary and accountable leadership.

“Delta deserves a workable socio-economic, political development and wealth creation agenda that will build on the achievements of the past and present administration.

“I have a track record of performance. as commissioner for economic planning, within the first 100 days in office, we got the 2012 state budget prepared, submitted to the Delta State House of Assembly and approved by the DTHA before 2011 year-end. This was the first in about 20 years’ history of Delta State.”

The race to who succeeds Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has been caused divided opinions Deltans in recent times.

So far, the race has been between the Urhobos of Delta Central and the Ijaws of Delta South.
