Civil and public servants in Cross River State have been protesting for the past week over years of unpaid salaries and allowances.

Some angry civil servants took their complaints to the Cross River State Government Secretariat gates on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, with banners and placards expressing their grievances.

Placards with varying inscriptions such as “3 years without salary. Who did we offend? Yet we go to work everyday,” “Governor Ayade, pay us our salaries,” were spotted by our correspondent.

Many assistants to Cross River Governor Ben Ayade are reportedly nervous and complaining since they have not yet received their August salaries.

Several of the governor’s aides, including Commissioners, Special Advisers, Personal Assistants, and others are yet to receive their compensation for the month of August.
