Manchester United announced the sacking via a statement on their website on Sunday morning.

The statement read in part: “Manchester United announces that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as Manager.”

“Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it’s with regret that we have reached this difficult decision…… ”

The 48-year-old who was appointed as Manchester United manager in March 2019 got fired after two and half years of being in charge.

The Norwegian has previously been appointed as caretaker manager on 19 December 2018 before he became full-time manager.

The former Molde manager failed to win a trophy for United in his first two seasons in charge, although he had ensured their 3rd and 2nd-places in the respective seasons.

However, with the look of things, there is certainty that the coach will neither secure a place in the top-flight, nor clinch any trophy for the club at the end of this season.

United have incurred severe beatings from strongs and weaks across all competions, including 2-1 loss to Young Boys, 5-0 loss to Liverpool, 4-0 defeat to Leicester, 1-0 loss to West ham in EFL Cup, 2-0 loss against Manchester City before yesterday 4-1 defeat.

The poor performance on the part of the team has also subjected them to humiliation of various kind.

The coach has also been given an ultimatum of three-match trial which he passed before Saturday’s consensus.

All that being the reason for the board meeting after their last game which resulted in Solksjaer’s relief of duty.

meanwhile, Man Utd have been scouting for Solksjaer’s replacement with former Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, Mauricio Pochettino of PSG, Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag and even Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City all on the club’s list of options.
