Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has revealed his position on whether his team remains one of this season’s League title contenders.
The former Paris Saint-Germain manager disclosed that the Blues are nowhere near a team to compete for the title.
The 48-year-old added that it would be stupid of them (Chelsea) to even think they are into the race of winning the league trophy.

Tuchel revealed that they cannot compete because of Covid-19 crisis as well as injuries which handicap a number of his players.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were compelled to share the points in 1-1 clash with Brighton on Wednesday night as Danny Welbeck’s late header cancelled Romelu Lukaku’s 1sf half goal.

Tuchel responded when asked if his team can still compete for the title: “How should we be in it? We have seven Covid-19 cases. We have five or six players out for six or more weeks. How should we compete in a title race”
“We would be stupid to think we can do it out of Covid and injuries and just play, and everybody would be stupid to do it without 23 fit players.”
Meanwhile, Tuchel’s side sit second with eight goals behind Manchester City and one point ahead of the third-placed Liverpool.
Chelsea will then host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on the 2nd day of New year before going toe-to-toe with Tottenham in the Semi final of Carabao Cup on January 5th.
