Super Eagles manager, Austin Eguavoen has shrugged off his team’s tag as favourites to win the ongoing African Cup Of Nations, AFCON.

As a matter of fact, the Nigerian national football team has been a dominating team against Egypt on Tuesday.

The Eagles also gave a thumping 3-1 beating to Sudan yesterday Saturday in their second match of the 33rd AFCON.

That said, Nigeria has claimed the first top of the group ‘D’ table on six points and four goals in just two matches and are three points ahead of the Pharaohs who were up to the second position following a 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau last night.

That is to say, the 3x African Champions are doing well and are playing the best football at this competition.

After everything, the 56-year-old manager, dismiss suggestions that his team could raise the trophy.

However, the coach had revealed this ahead of the Eagles’ second game.

Eguavoen said: “We are doing very well now, thanks to the players, but it’s too early to talk about being favorite.”

“We have to approach the next game with all seriousness and after crossing that huddle, we look at the next game.”
