The Federal House of Representatives has placed a demand on the Nigerian Federal Government to put a final stop to the entering of herdsmen from other African countries into the country.

The House while on it’s plenary session on Tuesday deliberated on the issue following a motion moved by Hon Ndudi Elumelu of PDP, Delta calling on the country’s federal government to place a ban on the entry of foreign herdsmen into Nigeria.

Hon Elumelu’s motion was unanimously adopted by the House for deliberation thereafter.

The House Members decried that these foreign herders been responsible for the killing of innocent citizens as well as the destruction of farmlands in Nigeria.

The House Members further pointed out that security operatives have overtime revealed that these herdsmen are immigrants from neighboring African countries.

Meanwhile, the governor of Kano state, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje had called on the government to put ban foreign herdsmen from coming into Nigeria from other African countries.

Ganduje opined that the move if implemented, would curtail the incessant rate of Fulani herdsmen causing havoc in the country.

The Kano state governor poured encomiums on the House Members for following up his call during their plenary on Tuesday, describing the move as apt and patriotic.
