The Federal House of Representatives has summoned the Presidential Task Force team on Coronavirus for quizzing on how funds it received from the government towards the fight against the pandemic have been spent.

As of today, the Federal Government of Nigeria has disbursed the sum of N22,163,130,411 to the PTF Operations Account fr which the sum of N164,929,475 has so far been expended on the evacuation of stranded Nigerians abroad.

Mr Wole Oke, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and also leader of the joint committees, stated that the PTF team was summoned to give account of the sums and further give clarity to speculations hovering around the funds.

The House Committee further issued a stern warning to the Accountant General of the Federation, who has persistently failed to honour the invitation of the committee.

The AGF has been warned to stop disobeying subsequent invitations by the Committee to avoid an arrest warrant issued against him.

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the country’s Minister of Health, Professor Osagie Ehanire, were only represented by their permanent secretaries.

Also in attendance at the session were Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, and Dr Sani Aliyu, National Coordinator of the PTF.
