The enrolment of a third batch of Npoer beneficiaries will commence next week according to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

The decision to enlist a new set of beneficiaries for the scheme was reached after due consultations and a further review of the submitted reforms towards an efficient performance for the program.

The new batch of beneficiaries to be enrolled will open up opportunities for more youths in the country to access the scheme, which is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision of taking 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

In a statement on Friday by the Deputy Director Information of the ministry, Rhoda Iliya stated that the current beneficiaries of the scheme will be exiting the programme in June and July.

Batch A beneficiaries will exit on June 30, 2020, while Batch B beneficiaries will be exiting the scheme on July 31, 2020.

Minister Sadiya Farouq revealed that the ministry has commenced a process to transit the Batch A and B beneficiaries into government entrepreneurship schemes while also engaging private sector bodies.

This is in a bid to absorb some of the exiting beneficiaries upon the completion of a psychometric assessment to determine competency, and placement into various opportunities.

Farouq also stated that the online portal for registration would be open to receive applications from mid-day on June 26, 2020 with a level playing ground available for all applicants.

According to the ministry, comprehensive details for the enrollment of the new batch will be made available in the coming weeks.

However, past and exiting beneficiaries are not eligible to participate in the application.

The N-Power was initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari under the National Social Investment Programme in 2016 with the vision to lift citizens out of poverty through capacity building, investment, and direct support.

The scheme currently has about 500,000 beneficiaries enrolled since 2016. Batch A has 200,000 beneficiaries which started in September 2016, while Batch B has 300,000 which kicked off in August 2018.
