Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has submitted an N45 billion supplementary budget to the state House of Assembly.
The supplementary budget, which is made up of N41 billion for recurrent expenditure and N4 billion for capital expenditure, if passed, would increase the state’s budget size from N586 billion to N631 billion.
While receiving the Executive Bill, titled “A Law to make Supplementary Provision for the Service of Akwa Ibom State Government for the Year Ending on 31st December, 2022,” House Leader Sir Udo Kierian Akpan stated that the Bill will aid in the completion and commissioning of ongoing projects before the expiration of this government.

He did, however, urge members to give the Bill their full attention in order for the budget to be passed as soon as possible.
The bill was then referred to the House Committee on Appropriations and Finance, which was tasked with obtaining additional contributions from relevant MDAs and reporting back to the House within 24 hours.
