Following the alleged rift between the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and his Deputy, Agboola Ajayi, the Ondo State House of Assembly lawmakers have served an impeachment notice on the state embattled Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.

Presided over during a plenary session by the state Speaker of Assembly, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun, 14 members of the assembly attended the session.

Also, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mr. Gbenga Omole after the held session said that the House needed only nine members to give out the notice.

Recall that the embattled Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, had defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after an alleged rift with his Boss, Rotimi Akeredolu.

On the Impeachment process, Mr. Gbenga statement reads in part;

“Only nine members of the 26 members are needed to sign the impeachment move but the House needs 18 to do the impeachment proper.

”It is a process , we are at the first process, when the time comes the required 18 will sign the impeachment.”

However, one of the state lawmakers against the move, Mr. Festus Akingbaso, condemned the impeachment notice as he noted that it was unconstitutional. Opposing the impeachment move, he further said that it does not meet two-third of the House Members required by the law.

Similarly, another lawmaker representing Irele Constituency while backing up Mr. Festus opposition affirmed that the impeachment plot would not work.
