The Federal Government of Nigeria has said that the partial closure of the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge will begin from Friday Midnight, July 24, 2020, to January 23, 2021.

This was announced by the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.

Fashola stated that between 2015 and 2019, survey of all the bridges in the country were taken by the government in bid to determine their urgency of repairs and conditions.

“Some were critical, others were less critical and the Third Mainland Bridge is one of those bridges. At the time we estimated that we will need about N277bn to do all of that work over a period of four years,” He said.

While he further noted that the budget received to revive and run a maintenance check on the bridges was less than expected, he however stated that some work has started after receiving a good “tip” from the government.
