Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has emerged flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Sokoto South Senatorial District ahead the 2023 general election.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that Tambuwal was a presidential aspirant of the PDP, but withdrew his interest at the last minute and openly declared support for eventual winner, Atiku Abubakar.

Tambuwal is seeking to represent seven Local Government Areas in the Red Chamber.

They are Bodinga, Dange/Shuni, Kebbe, Shagari, Tambuwal, Tureta, and Yabo.

The outgoing governor will battle for the sear with the incumbent lawmaker representing the district, Senator Danbaba Dambuwa, who just recently decamped to the APC from the PDP.

Governor Tambuwal had previously represented Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, where he rose to become the Speaker of the House in his third term.

In a similar news, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State was on Saturday declared governorship flag bearer of the party in the state.

Bala, who also contested and lost the PDP presidential primary was given the ticket after the Secretary to The State Government opted out of the race.

Mohammed entered the contest as a sole aspirant and polled a total of 646 votes out of 650 votes cast in Bauchi on Saturday.
