Nasir El-Rufai, The Governor of Kaduna State, censures the violence and merciless killings in the Southern part of the state on some religious leaders.

He stated this when he received a delegation led by the Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba at the Government House, Kaduna on Thursday.

El- Rufai said the clerics uses their platform to preach disunity and hate which leads to violence in the state.

He however, noted that this government has been able to cut down the violence and killings in the state to the barest minimum, adding that his administration will strive to put an end to insecurity in the state.

He said: “Our study of the situation over four decades has shown that the main drivers of this violence are a few clerics that use their platforms, not to preach peaceful co-existence or promote our common humanity.

“Rather, they use their platforms and revered positions to divide and incite violence. I was sad to hear from the primate that he was a victim in 1987, when his house was burnt down in Wusasa, Zaria.

“In those days, the primate will recall that this sort of violence starts from one part of the state and spreads all over the state.

“One credit that this government gets from everyone, including our adversaries, has been our ability to contain these outbreaks to their points of origin.”

The Most Rev. Ndukuba Speaking , called on both Christians and Muslims to work towards making the state and nation better, whilst asking the governor to do his best in ensuring that no life is lost in the Southern part of the state.
