The Delta state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Barr Kingsley Esiso has been asked to resign by the Delta Ijaw Advocacy Group (DIAG), following his recent comments on the gubernatorial zoning arrangements in the state.

In a statement signed by Comrade Austin Okporu and made available to newsmen on Friday, the group asserted that Barr Esiso ‘s comment has revealed his chauvinistic characteristics.

The DIAG demands an immediate and honorable resignation from Barr Esiso, who should have been a neutral umpire in the election processes of the party.

The group further stated that Esiso lacks the wherewithal to oversee a smooth transition process from the present administration to another in 2023.

The statement reads in full;
“The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Chief Kingsley Esiso has violated his Oath of office and allegiance to the Party’s ethics he swore to uphold.”

“A recent statement accredited to him wherein he said the Delta State zoning arrangement stands in 2023 proves that he no longer a neutral umpire in the Party’s elections.”

“Kingsley Esiso has only shown to Deltans through his reckless statement that he cannot lead the Party to midwife a smooth transition process. The office of the State Party chairman needs a refined, reserved and a matured mind.”

“A Person like Kingsley Esiso who cannot control his chauvinistic emotions in public is a persona non grata to the office he is occupying. He is not politically matured or experienced enough to lead a complex Party like PDP in Delta State.”

“It is important that he relieves himself of that exalted office in order to save the Party from heading to the cliff. For the good of all Deltans and for the survival of our dear Party in the next transition processes, we therefore ask him to honourably resign from his Office, especially for the fact that the PDP may be an endangered species in the State under his controversial leadership.”

“Esiso should not deceive himself even if he is trying to be economical with the truth. There has never been zoning arrangement on the basis of senatorial districts in the State since 1999. The records are there in the public glare.”

“Esiso and his co-travellers should not deceive themselves. 2023 governorship race is going to be contested by all interested Deltans across the State. There’s nothing like zoning. If however there ought to be zoning then it should be on the basis of ethnic groups which the Ijaw, Isoko and Ndokwa ethnic groups have not benefited.”

“The PDP National leadership led by His Excellency, Prince Uche Secondus, Governor Okowa and all lovers of the Party should note that when a supposed neutral umpire openly takes side in the Party’s internal elections then the process is doomed from the beginning.”

“Governor Okowa who is a beneficiary like others of the Party’s unity in the State which is bonded by love, peace, cohesion and ethnic harmony for the past 21 years should not allow it to be destroyed by one misfortune ethnic champion who did not just know the importance of that hallowed office he is occupying but also the political dynamisms of the State.”

“We therefore call on the Party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and Governor Okowa to immediately take steps to calm the fraying nerves before the aggrieved populace through Esiso’s reckless statement take steps to jeopardize the unity of PDP in Delta State.”

“The silence of the Governor in the face of Esiso’s tyrannical style of governance in the Party will not do us any good. If anything happens to the Party due to Esiso’s dictatorial tendencies then Okowa should note that even his future political ambitions are going to be grossly affected. It’s said that rain doesn’t fall on one roof alone. Let us take a bitter lesson from the Bayelsa experience.”

Recall that Barr Kingsley Esiso had stated that the gubernatorial position of Delta state is predetermined by a zoning formula according to the three Senatorial Districts in the state.

He emphatically state that it was the turn of the Urhobos in Delta Central to produce the next governor in the state.
