16 Players to Jostle For Honors at Maiden Tare Magbei Scrabble Tourney

A total of sixteen players will compete at the maiden edition of the Tare Magbei Scrabble Tourney, Burutu.

Two athletes will be drawn from each of the eight kingdoms in Burutu local government area, Delta State.

This was revealed by the Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Comrade Ebizimor Ekisah, while addressing newsmen in Warri, on Monday.

According to Ekisah, athletes will go through a round-robin group stage before proceeding to the knockout stages.

“16 contestant will do battle in the maiden Tare Magbei Scrabble Tourney. The eight official kingdoms in Burutu Council Area will present two participants each.

“Participant will compete in groups, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final stages for the grand prize of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00).

“Also, first and second runner-ups will get N70,000 and N50,000 respectively, and other consolation prizes too.”

Ekisah explained that the tourney is aimed at unearthing champions in the game as well as raising awareness for intellectualism and continued education.

The Tare Magbei Scrabble Tourney is a brainchild of Tare Magbei, a digital entrepreneur, is billed for December 2 and 3, 2022.
