However, they later agreed to collect five million naira in new naira notes.

“As we were putting heads together to see how we could raise the five million naira through community effort, the terrorists sent a message on Tuesday that they would not collect old Naira notes.”

The Federal Government on Wednesday, unveiled the redesigned naira notes to the general public at the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Also, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele warned Nigerians against holding the old notes.

He added that there was no going back on the January 31st, 2023 deadline to completely render the old notes useless.

The redesigned notes are in denominations of N1000, N500, and N200.
