Kaduna Explosion Kills 1, Injures 10 Children

An explosion at Kidandan village in Kaduna State killed one child and injured at least 10 others.

The blast occurred when a pupil who was studying with a local cleric found an object in the bush and brought it to his classmates. The object exploded among the children.

The Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, said the Explosive Ordinance Department was sent to the area to determine the nature and cause of the explosion.

Hassan added that the injured victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan also confirmed the death of one pupil, Zaidu Usman.

Aruwan disclosed that the ten wounded victims were being treated at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.

According to him, Governor Uba Sani was shocked and saddened by the incident.

Sani sent his condolences to the victims and their families while also praying for the soul of the deceased and the recovery of the injured.

The Governor also urged parents and community leaders to be more vigilant about their children’s and wards’ activities, as they are vulnerable to various hazards.

He instructed the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs to work with security agencies to investigate the explosion urgently.
