Breaking: Okowa Releases Funds For Flood Affected Communities in Delta | Daily Report Nigeria

0The Delta State Government has released funds for the purchasing of food items for flood ravaged communities in the state.

This is in a bid to cushion the effect of flooding on the affected communities.

This was disclosed on Monday morning by the State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo in Asaba, the state capital.

According to Hon Ikpokpo, the affected local government areas include Oshimili South, Aniocha South, Ndokwa East, Isoko North, Isoko South, Patani, Bomadi, Burutu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Warri South-West and Warri North.

Ikpokpo appealed with the affected communities to be patient with the state government as help is on the way, saying procurement of relief materials has begun and distribution to the affected communities will commence soon.

He stated;
“On behalf of my colleagues in ALGON, we thank our dear Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the gracious release of funds to procure food items for flood victims in Delta State.

“I therefore appeal to our people to remain calm and patient as the various councils carry out the task of procuring and distributing the food items to the affected communities.

“It is our firm commitment to ensure that no one suffers on account of flooding as government is prepared to meet them half way,” Ikpokpo stated
