The lawmaker representing Burutu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Julius Pondi has thrown his weight behind women occupying seats of power.

Pondi particularly exercised enthusiasm that a woman will one day rule Nigeria.

The two-term lawmaker stated this while speaking at the launching of Congress Newspaper, on Friday in Warri, Delta State.

Reacting to an earlier question on if women will one day rule Nigeria, Pondi disclosed that he voted in favour of women in four recent bills that were passed at the National Assembly.

He said, “I strongly believe that a woman will one day become the president of this country.

“In fact, in the recent constitution review at the National Assembly, I voted in favour of the women in four different bills.

“Unfortunately, my votes were quashed by the majority. However, I am hopeful that women will perform optimally if given seats of power,” he added.

The occasion also saw a N20 million fundraising for equipment for Congress Newspaper.
