Ned Nwoko: Police Arrests Lawyer Over Failure to Produce Sowore

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory, has arrested one Mr Abubakar Marshall over Omoyele Sowore’s failure to report back to the Police.

Daily Report Nigeria can recall that the Sahara Reporters Publisher was arrested on February 24, 2022, following a petition against the Sahara Reporters Foundation and Mr Omoyele Sowore for criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, publication of news known to be false, which are all contrary to section 391, 392, 393, 394, 395 and 418 of the Penal code of Northern Nigeria.

The petition was made by a former federal lawmaker, Prince Ned Nwoko through his lawyers at Trifold Law & Partners.

Abubakar was arrested by the police on Friday for failing to produce Sowore, after releasing the accused on bail that day.

According to the police, Abubakar failed to pick up calls and refused to return messages.

The petition signed by Bryan U. Ukaegbu on behalf of the the law firm, accused Sowore of several defamatory statements through his news outfit, social media handles aimed at running down their client’s business and political career.

On the day of his arrest, Sowore is said to have refused writing a statement at the police station, but got Abubakar Marshall to secure his release on bail.

The Police in it’s friendly and professional manner and devoid of oppression, granted Sowore administrative bail with an understanding that he will return to the police the next day, February 25, 2022.
