The abductors of Dr Tony Aziegbemi, the Edo State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have demanded a hefty ransom of N500 million for his freedom.

It was said that the kidnappers initiated negotiations with Aziegbemi’s family members on Friday, March 22.

A close family source shared the development with journalists in Benin City, the state capital, on Sunday.

Furthermore, details about the family’s efforts to raise the ransom or any assistance from the PDP remain undisclosed.

However, when contacted, the State Police Command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor stated that the police are unaware of the ransom demand.

Nwabuzor said:

I am not aware of any ransom demand. I can only confirm What I am aware of.”
