The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended Abia lawmaker Alex Mascot Ikwechegh following allegations of assault against a cab driver in Abuja.

The arrest, confirmed by police spokesperson Josephine Adeh, occurred after the victim, Stephen Abuwatseya, reported the incident at the Maitama Police Station.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the altercation arose while Abuwatseya was delivering a package to Ikwechegh.

A dispute over the delivery method escalated, resulting in the alleged assault. Reports indicate that Ikwechegh struck Abuwatseya and dismissed his concerns with the comment, “You can go ahead and call the Inspector General of Police,” showcasing a troubling disregard for law enforcement authority.
