More twist has been added to the Adamawa governorship election after an operative of the Department of Secret Service admitted to receiving a N2 billion Naira bribe.
The said official, an Assistant Director of DSS, in Adamawa State (name withheld) was being investigated after a video of him admitting that he received the sum to unlawfully announce APC’s Aishatu Ahmed Binani as the winner of the Adamawa state governorship election.
Following Binani’s declaration, the official in a torn brown brocade caftan was seen in the back of a Hilux truck with another man said to be a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Meanwhile, the DSS has issued a statement through its spokesman, Peter Afunnaya saying it has commenced a full investigation into the development.
It further charged concerned parties in Adamawa State to remain calm and shun violence.
The statement read in full:
“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to a trending video on the social media in which someone suspected to be its staff was allegedly manhandled by some political miscreants in Adamawa State. This followed developments arising from the supplementary governorship election in the State.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that it has commenced a full investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident.”
