AFCON 2021 hosts, Cameroon defeated Burkina Faso in the opening game of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.

The Indomitable Lions fought from a goal down to win the encounter and to stay atop Group A.

Sangare had scored on the 24th minute to give the Burkinabe a first half lead at the Olembe Stadium Yaoundé, before Vincent Aboubakar equalised with spot-kick on the 40th minute.

Aboubakar converted a second spot kick in added time of the first half to take the hosts into the lead going into the second half.

The encounter was the third time both team face-off at the African Cup of Nations, with Cameroon triumphing over Burkina Faso in all three duels.
