That caused the former Chelsea star to be booked a yellow while the referee also awarded a penalty to Burhan Tia’s men.

The incident which was not picked up in the first place had to follow a VAR’s review before Victor Gomes (South Africa) eventually awarded the penalty.

Meanwhile, Walieldin Khidir successfully pulled one back for Sudan having converted the penalty in the 70th minute.

Aina told the Super Eagles media team: “Yea, we gave away the clean sheet.”

“It’s sad for the team, the defence, and it’s sad for Madu because he’s been keeping clean sheets.”

In any event, Aina who acknowledged that the goal was his fault also claimed his attention was not on the player but on the ball.

“What happened was I was not looking at the player. Obviously, I held his shirt a little bit, but there’s always a little bit of shirt holding in the box, and I was just watching the ball.

“I didn’t see when I stepped on his foot.”
