Stand-in Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong has emerged Player of the Tournament at the just concluded AFCON in Ivory Coast.
The defender had a solid tournament, marshalling the Nigeria backline, which conceded just one goal from open play prior to the final.
Troost-Ekong also scored three goals, including the opener against the hosts in the final.
Though, the Super Eagles lost out to Ivory Coast 2-1 in the final, the former Watford defender was rewarded for putting up a decent show at Africa’s grandest soccer event.

Meanwhile, Nigerian goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali was overlooked by the Confederation of African Football in the Golden Gloves category.
Nwabali was beaten to the Best Goalkeeper Award by South Africa’s Ronwan Williams.
Williams first caught attention after stopping four straight penalties in the Round of 16 shoot-out win over Cape Verde.
He was also the hero when the Bafana Bafana edged DR Congo in the third place final on Saturday.
Equatorial Guinea captain, Emile Nsue won the Golden Boot after scoring five goals in four games.
Also, Simon Adingra won Best Young Player for his scintillating displays at the 34th AFCON.
