Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles manager is set to name players in his squad list for the next Africa Cup of Nations.

The 68-year-old would however, not be able to name more than 28 players in his squad ahead of next year’s African Nations competition.

The coach will therefore, have power to involve up to that number of players in his squad upon permission by the Confederation of African Football, CAF to have a large squad.

CAF revealed this to all participating countries via a memo while imitating UEFA’s blueprint, which permits all participating countries to name just 26 players.

It gave a reason that the large squad would create room for a replacement if a player contracted Corona virus.

In addition, only three substitutes plus one additional substitute during extra time will be made possible.

Nigeria will face Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which runs from January 9th of 2022 to February 6th of 2022.
