Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has called on the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), to shut down Nigeria over the brutalization of its president, Joe Ajaero in Imo state.

The 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State of attempting to assassinate the NLC president.

Recall that while in Owerri, the Imo state capital on Wednesday, Ajaero, who was mobilizing Imo workers for a mega protest rally in the state over an alleged violation and abuse of rights and privileges of workers by the state government, was attacked by miscreants.

He was later whisked away by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

Reacting, Sowore posted on X(formerly Twitter): “This barbarism is unacceptable, @HopeUzodinma sent thugs to assault and possibly assassinate @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero.

“The @NLCHeadquarters ought to shut down the country until the Imo State Governor and his thugs are removed from office. #RevolutionNow.”
