Newcastle legend Alan Shearer believes Portugal could win Euro 2024 if Cristiano Ronaldo accepts a reduced role in the team.
Speaking ahead of Portugal’s match against Turkey on Saturday, Shearer noted that Ronaldo didn’t score in Portugal’s 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in their first game.
“This is key to whether Portugal can win the competition,” Shearer told BBC One. “If he accepts that he cannot play 90 minutes every game, it will significantly boost their chances.”

Shearer praised Ronaldo’s attitude, saying, “When waking up after games and still having the desire to go again, despite the pain, that hunger and drive to be the very best is phenomenal. Everyone speaks highly of his dedication.”
