The 26-year-old skipped Newcastle’s pre-season tour and has trained alone, and the club has kept him out of first-team action while talks continue.

Liverpool have offered about £110 million, but Newcastle, backed by Saudi owners value Isak closer to £150 million.

Last season he scored 23 Premier League goals and helped Newcastle win the League Cup, so the club view him as vital to their plans.

Alexander Isak Earns Sweden Call-Up Amid Transfer Standoff

Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson called the situation “tricky” but said Isak can still make a difference for the national team.

He added that the 2026 World Cup matters to the striker and saw no reason to rule him out of the squad despite limited club minutes.

On August 20 Isak said:

“When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.”

Newcastle replied that Isak remains under contract and that no official guaranteed his exit this summer.

Since then, Isak met senior club officials and again pushed to join Liverpool as the window runs down.

Newcastle also rejected bids for Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, underlining the club’s cautious stance on transfers.

With the deadline approaching, expect more movement in the next 10–14 days as clubs decide whether to meet Newcastle’s valuation.
