Arsenal Title Ambitions Dented by 2-0 Defeat to Aston Villa at Emirates

Arsenal

Arsenal suffered a setback in their quest for the title on Sunday, falling 2-0 to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s team aimed to maintain their unbeaten streak in 2024 and capitalize on Liverpool’s earlier defeat to Crystal Palace. Despite dominating much of the match, Arsenal struggled to convert their chances into goals.

Late in the game, Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey scored by tapping in at the back post, breaking the deadlock. Villa’s star striker, Ollie Watkins, then sealed the victory with a goal on a counter-attack.
