Arteta Explains Saka’s Substitution: Fatigue, Not Injury, Behind the Decision

Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, provided insight into Bukayo Saka’s substitution during their 0-0 draw against Manchester City on Sunday.

Initially uncertain for the Premier League clash at the Etihad, Saka was included in the starting lineup against the champions.

However, in the 78th minute of the match, the 22-year-old was substituted, with Gabriel Martinelli taking his place after Saka went down holding his leg in the second half.

Arteta addressed concerns about Saka’s condition after the game, reassuring that the young player was not injured but rather experiencing fatigue.

“Nothing serious. As you know, he has been out for a few weeks now with a little problem.

“He was feeling fatigued. He only trained one day before the match. He had a big contribution but it was a lot, 90 minutes for him today,” Arteta said.
