Atala Oil: Group Exonerates Seriake Dickson of Allegations by APC Stalwart | Daily Report Nigeria

A group under the auspices of South-South PDP United Progressive Vanguard, has Senator Seriake Dickson of allegations leveled against him by one Wisdom Ikuli, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State.

Ikuli is said to have repeatedly accused the Bayelsa West Senator of masterminding the reallocation of the Atala Oil field owned by the Bayelsa State Government to Halkin E & P Limited.

However, the group in a statement by Hon. Eseimokumor Izonfadei and Mrs. Mary Zagiri-Elendu,
Secretary Chairman and Secretary respectively, described the allegations as preposterous and libelous.

The statement read;

“The South-South PDP United Progressive Vanguard, Bayelsa State Chapter has watched with dismay how the self-acclaimed activist, Wisdom Ikuli, who is a known APC agent has fruitlessly been trying to drag the name of the respected former Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West into the mud on issues that he has no hand in.

“Ikuli had in several long epistles alleged that Senator Seriake Dickson is responsible for the reallocation of the Atala Oil field owned by the Bayelsa State Government to Halkin E & P Limited, a company he accuses Dickson of having a stake.

“We view this accusation as preposterous, libelous, and unfounded. For those who may not know, Hon. Ayakpo Wilson who is the APC senatorial candidate in Sagbama/Ekeremor, contesting against, Senator Seriake Dickson is the head of community and security consultant to Halkin E & P Limited.

“So how can anyone point accusing fingers at Dickson? How can Halkin which Ikuli alleged Senator Dickson has a stake in employ one of his critics as CLO? Is Wilson not a boy to the minister of state for petroleum?

“Another question is if Senator Dickson has a hand in the reallocation of the Oil field would he have accompanied Governor Douye Diri to meet President Muhammadu Buhari to seek the return of the state’s prized asset?

“The good thing is that, reasonable and notable Ijaw leaders and Bayelsans know the credibility of Senator Dickson and do not take the likes of Ikuli, who is infamous for publishing lies against leaders for pecuniary gains.

“He is a bigot who delights in maligning leaders from other areas but finds it comfortable to protect leaders from Bayelsa East senatorial district especially Ogbia.

“Bayelsans know Dickson’s antecedents, as a man that believes in any cause that will promote the state and Ijaw nation. He will never divert Ijaw asset to his personal asset.

“The amount of allocation that came in from the federal government during Senator Dickson’s eight-year tenure was N1.3trn, whereas Ikuli’s master within his failed five years as Governor got N900b, which is close to 1trn. Ikuli should get his facts handy before dishing out figures he does not have knowledge about.

“It will not be out of place to remind Ikuli that his own brother, former President Goodluck Jonathan was once a deputy governor, governor, vice president and president.

“Where are the footprints of Goodluck Jonathan in Bayelsa State? Let Ikuli mention one project sighted by GEJ resident in Sagbama, Ekeremor kolokuma/Opokuma, Yenagoa Brass, Nembe, Southern Ijaw, or even his Ogbia?

“If Wisdom Ikuli does not respect leaders from other areas, then, he should respect Senator Seriake Dickson who is a pride to Bayelsa State, with many landmark projects in Bayelsa, including Ogbia. Dickson’s footprints is everywhere in Ijawland.

“We urge Ikuli and his cohorts whose stock in trade is to stir conflict, crisis and blackmail leaders of the state to stop forthwith before karma falls on him for the divisive roles he has played over the years. As a group we do not find funny his falsehood against one of our finest south-south PDP leaders.

“The Bayelsa State government should speak up and clear the air on the issue and not allow the APC to discredit Bayelsa PDP leaders. The likes of Ikuli are tools being used to discredit our leaders in the court of public opinion.
