According to social media reports by security analyst Bakatsine, the gunmen imposed a strict curfew on the town and threatened violence if their demand for ₦30 million is not met.

The town is notably the hometown of Ikira Aliyu Bilbis, who represents Zamfara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

In a post on social media, Bakatsine wrote:

“People are terrified. Everyone has been ordered indoors, and no one can leave until the ransom is paid.”

Residents say the curfew has effectively shut down daily life in the town, disrupting businesses, schools, and other routine activities.

A local resident who spoke anonymously described the atmosphere as extremely tense.

“We are living in constant fear. Nobody knows when the bandits will strike next. The town feels like it’s under siege,” the resident said.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities of the Nigeria Police Force had yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, bandits reportedly killed three members of the Community Protection Group (CPG) in Magamin Diddi in Maradun Local Government Area.

Sources said the attackers arrived in large numbers and engaged local security operatives in a fierce gun battle before overpowering them.

The victims were identified as:

• Nasiru Gaji

• Jamilu Ibrahim

• Bashar Dan Inna

Their bodies were later taken to General Hospital Maradun for postmortem examination before being released to their families for burial according to Islamic rites.

The latest incidents further highlight the persistent security challenges facing several communities in Zamfara State, where banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks continue to disrupt daily life.
