Bandits Kill 4, Kidnap 18 in Sokoto Community

Bandits have attacked Giyawa village in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, leaving four people dead and 18 others kidnapped.

The Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto State Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ahmed Rufai confirmed the attack.

Rufai said the bandits also made off with other valuables, including livestock.

He said seven of those abducted had since escaped from their kidnappers and returned to their communities, where many residents had already fled to safety.

Other sources in the affected communities claimed that more than thirty people had been kidnapped, but police claimed only eleven were still with the attackers.

Rufai promised that the police were continuing to track down the attackers.
