The violent invasion forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes, fearing possible abduction, as the attackers concentrated their assault around Akisa and nearby areas.

Local security guards and vigilante groups were said to have confronted the bandits, but their resistance was overwhelmed due to the attackers’ superior firepower.

Confirming the incident, the Inurin of Ora Igbomina land, High Chief Isaac Fadipe, said operatives of the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and vigilantes had launched a coordinated search of surrounding forests to rescue the abducted victim and track down the attackers.

Fadipe appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke and security agencies to urgently reinforce security in the town, warning that residents now live in constant fear.

“We are now living in perpetual fear, and we want the government to act fast on the security of the people,” Fadipe said.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the incident and announced the deployment of additional personnel to the area.

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said officers and volunteers immediately pursued the attackers. He added that although one person was shot during the incident, the fatality occurred across the Kwara State border.

“We are working hard to rescue the victim,” Ojelabi assured.
