The governor cited a Facebook report by one George Turner, announcing plans to host Wike in the state, as a threat to the peace of Bayelsa.
Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, has prohibited the hosting of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in any part of the state. This decision was announced at a security press conference on Friday, March 28.
According to Governor Diri, a certain George Turner had announced plans to host Wike in the state, which the governor sees as a threat to the peace of Bayelsa.
Diri stated, “Persons from this state, particularly one George Turner, is threatening the peace of this state. Recently, there is a Facebook report with his own number that he is going to host the Minister of FCT in Tombia roundabout in Bayelsa.”

The governor emphasised that Wike is not from Bayelsa state and that the proposed meeting must not take place in the state.
He directed that no public place or school should be used by anybody except with the approval of the state.

Residents of the communities are lamenting over the gradual loss of their lands as a result of the sea waves consistently smashing on it.
During an assessment tour by Safe and Better Nigeria, a non-governmental organization led by Comrade Charles Ikpaka Solomon, the communities called on the federal and Bayelsa State governments to urgently find solutions to their plight.
