Blackface Accuses Shallipopi of Intellectual Property Theft Over Song Sampling

Nigerian singer Augustine Obiabo Amedu, widely known as Blackface, has accused his colleague Shallipopi of stealing his intellectual property.

Blackface, a former member of Plantashun Boiz, alleges that Shallipopi sampled his song ‘Enemy Plan’ in Shallipopi’s debut album ‘Shakepopi’ without obtaining permission.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, Blackface questioned whether Nigerian artists are unable to create music without copying his sound or melody. In pidgin, he wrote:

“Una mean say if them no copy my sound or my melody them no go get song to sing? Ok I don make remix for una so make una better abandon this una project.”.”

Shallipopi has yet to respond to the accusation.
