The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has directed its members to commence total mobilisation in compliance with the directive of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to embark on an indefinite strike.
The development has now raised the likelihood of a nationwide blackout.
The NLC’s decision to declare an indefinite nationwide strike aims at pressuring the federal government to address the hardships associated with fuel subsidy removal.
In response, the NUEE has urged its members to stop work from the early hours of Tuesday October 3 and participate in street protests and rallies until the government responded to their demands.
