Chief Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has faulted calls for the creation of 31 additional states in the country.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen on Sunday, George stated that creating more states would not solve the country’s challenges.

“Don’t tell me we should create more states. Forget about more states. We want to create more states and then everybody will be rushing to Abuja. This is not sustainable,” George said.

He advocated for a revisit of the country’s federal structure, emphasizing the need for states to manage their resources.

According to George, “There is no state in this country that The Almighty has not endowed. It is either agriculture or minerals or human resources. But the constitution of this country is not right. We need to revisit it and now allow all those states to manage themselves, manage their resources.”

He cited the example of the United States, where mayors control airports and ports, and states have their own police.

Bode George Backs Ude-Okoye As PDP National Secretary

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees and elder statesman, Bode George, has thrown his weight behind Sunday Ude-Okoye as the authentic National Secretary of the party.

This endorsement comes amid a leadership tussle between Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu over the position.
