Casualty figures uncertain as survivors flee into Cameroon
Boko Haram terrorists have overrun a Nigerian Army base in Borno State, leaving many soldiers feared dead and others missing after a midnight assault.
The heavily armed fighters stormed the 152 Task Force Battalion in Banki, Bama Local Government Area, on Thursday, dislodging troops in one of the most severe attacks in recent months.

The battalion, part of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East, was overpowered as gunmen destroyed armoured tanks, burnt military trucks, and carted away a large cache of ammunition.
Multiple sources confirmed that surviving soldiers were forced to flee across the border into neighbouring Cameroon.
“Yesterday, 152 TF Battalion close to Banki town under Bama LGA was dislodged by Boko Haram terrorists. They were in charge of the base for several hours stealing military equipment and ammunition. As we are talking, casualties still unknown,” one source told SaharaReporters.
Another source added, “Yes, 152 Bn was attacked on Thursday. The base is close to Cameroon border, many of our men are still missing.

However, casualties are still being counted and dozens of vehicles were destroyed in the attack.”
Nigeria has fought the insurgency in the North-East for nearly two decades, yet Boko Haram continues to inflict mass casualties and territorial losses.
Despite repeated claims by the military that the terrorists had been technically defeated, thousands of soldiers remain vulnerable to superior firepower, while complaints of inadequate weapons and abandonment by commanders persist.
The conflict, which has killed more than 100,000 people and displaced millions across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, remains one of the gravest security threats to Nigeria’s stability.
