- World Cup Qualification in Danger: Can Brazil Recover in Time?
- Carlo Ancelotti & Jorge Jesus Linked to Brazil’s Head Coach Role.
Brazil’s national football team has removed Dorival Junior as head coach just 14 months after hiring him.
His exit came quickly after a 4-1 loss to Argentina, Brazil’s worst defeat in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, confirmed the decision.
With Brazil struggling in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, the team hopes this change will bring better results.
Brazil’s World Cup Hopes Are at Risk
Brazil is in a dangerous position in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
They are currently fifth, close to missing one of the six automatic qualification spots for South America.
They are behind Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay, making their next games very important. The tournament will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
During Dorival’s time as coach, Brazil played 16 matches, winning seven, drawing seven, and losing two.
His team scored 25 goals but allowed 17 goals, showing a lack of consistency.
The disappointment continued in the Copa América, where Uruguay knocked Brazil out in the quarterfinals after a penalty shootout.
Carlo Ancelotti & Jorge Jesus Could Be Brazil’s Next Coach
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues, who was re-elected to lead Brazilian football until 2030, wanted Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid to become Brazil’s coach.

But Ancelotti decided to stay in Spain, so Brazil picked Fernando Diniz, who was later sacked in early 2024.
Now that Dorival Junior is gone, Ancelotti’s name is back in the news as a possible new coach.
Another option is Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who is currently managing Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
Brazil has important matches coming up. They will play Ecuador on June 4 and Paraguay at home on June 9.
These games are crucial, and Brazil must win to stay in the race for the World Cup.
Now, the big question is—who will lead Brazil next? Will they hire an experienced European coach like Ancelotti, or will they choose Jorge Jesus for a new approach? One thing is clear—Brazil must act fast.
