Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the former Vice President is challenging the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which dismissed his and his party’s petition against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

The Tribunal had on September 6 dismissed Atiku’s petition for lacking merit.

The tribunal held that the petitions were filled with allegations of irregularities, corrupt practices, and substantial non-compliance with the electoral laws contained in his petition.

In the appeal filed at the Supreme Court, Atiku and the PDP sought the apex court to set aside the judgment of the tribunal.

They also seek for the court to declare Atiku the winner of the February 25 presidential election, among other prayers.
